Michigan football has made some improvements to Michigan Stadium, and the program provided a sneak peek and some of those features in a special video.
This fall, the Wolverines will unveil a new state-of-the-art LED lighting system within the Big House. The system is custom designed to improve on-field lighting and visibility and enhance the overall experience for players and fans. It will also reduce energy consumption.
The whiter and cleaner LED lights will enhance the television broadcast of the games. The system can also be customized with color-changing fixtures and light-to-music synchronization.
The Wolverines showed off that capability on social media with the lights set to maize and blue for a view of what’s to come:

“Adding the new Musco lighting system provides us with an additional tool to enhance the gameday atmosphere at Michigan Stadium,” said Jake Stocker, Director of Game Presentation & Fan Experience at the University of Michigan. “The ability to use special effects lighting in conjunction with video board content, key game moments, and special performances will create a unique and memorable experience for Michigan football fans of all ages.”
Michigan’s first 2 games of the season are set for afternoon kickoffs at 12 pm and 3:30 pm in Weeks 1 and 2. The first true reveal for the lights in primetime will be on Sept. 16 when Michigan hosts Bowling Green at 7:30 pm.
