Michigan may have found a diamond in the rough in its 2022 recruiting class. Amorion Walker was just a 3-star prospect out of Ponchatoula (Louisiana), but he’s turning heads in Wolverines camp.

Five-star cornerback Will Johnson calls Walker, “the freakiest athlete I’ve been around,” per Alejandro Zuniga of The Michigan Insider. Zuniga adds that fellow first-year receiver Darrius Clemson called Walker the “smoothest” of U-M’s trio of freshmen wideouts.

Michigan’s 2022 roster lists Walker at 6-3, 180 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Walker was rated the No. 25 Louisiana recruit, No. 72 wide receiver and No. 522 prospect overall in the class of 2022. Walker had 20 scholarship offers. He was committed to Notre Dame, but flipped to Michigan on Dec. 15, 2021, and signed with the Wolverines, enrolling in January.

Michigan may have plenty of depth at wide receiver in 2022, but Walker isn’t worried about being buried on the depth chart.

“Not so much intimidating, more excited,” Walker said, per The Michigan Insider. “I’m getting a lot of guidance from these guys. And they’re going to show me how things go. You know, just ease me into it.”

Walker’s first chance to contribute will be on Sept. 3 when Michigan opens the 2022 campaign at home against Colorado State.
