Michigan has its second pledge of the 2022 recruiting class.

Friday night, the Wolverines received a commitment from 4-star linebacker Tyler Martin, a native of Acton, Massachusetts. He shared a video on Twitter to make his announcement official.

Martin had eight offers on the table, picking Michigan over Arkansas, UMass, Nebraska, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Virginia.

Martin is listed as a 6-foot-3, 238-pound linebacker on 247Sports.com. He ranks as the No. 1 overall player out of Massachusetts and is the No. 10 inside linebacker in the class, as well. Nationally, Martin ranks No. 271.

From 247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Dohn:

Strong, thick build ideal for inside linebacker. Can bulk up and play on the defensive line or can drop weight and play linebacker. Has mentality to play inside the box as a linebacker. Strength is already an asset. Plays physical with little wasted movement. Sorts through traffic to get to ball carrier. Takes on blocks and disengages well. Intelligent player. Prepares well.

Martin is a versatile player on the field at the high school level. In addition to taking snaps at linebacker defensively, he was also utilized at the tight end position.

With Martin’s pledge, Michigan now ranks 11th nationally in the 2022 recruiting rankings and sits third in the B1G.
