Johnny Juzang played as well as UCLA could’ve asked for in the first half of the Elite Eight game, and it has resulted in the Bruins owning a halftime lead on Michigan.

Juzang exploded for 18 points in the first 20 minutes, giving UCLA a 27-23 lead at the break. He made 8-of-10 shot attempts from the floor and knocked down both shots from behind the 3-point line. The rest of the Bruins scored just 9 points.

Those 9 points came from Tyger Campbell and Jaime Jaquez Jr., who scored 5 and 4 respectively.

Brandon Johns Jr. was the leader for the Wolverines in the first half with 8 points. Hunter Dickinson and Eli Brooks each added 4, Chaundee Brown scored 3 and Franz Wagner and Austin Davis both had 2 points.

It was a defensive battle through the first half, with neither team shooting better than 40% through the first 20 minutes. Michigan and UCLA combined to make 4 shots from 3-point range and 4 total free throws while also turning the ball over 14 times.

The two teams are fighting for a spot in the Final Four. The winner will play Gonzaga next weekend.
