It’s been a busy offseason for Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, who officially hired two new assistant coaches on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolverines are welcoming Maurice Linguist and George Helow to the staff to coach defensive backs and safeties, respectively. Linguist will also serve as co-defensive coordinator.

“U-M is full of college football’s best traditions, and I cannot wait to get started,” Linguist said in a statement. “I look forward to leading and serving the young men in the program, developing life-long relationships, and competing at the highest of levels on the field.”

Helow comes to Michigan via Maryland where he served as the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach.

“I am incredibly excited and grateful to be joining the Michigan Football program, a school with a rich tradition and history of winning,” Helow said in a statement. “I am looking forward to developing great players who are also upstanding citizens.”
