It’s been a huge week on the recruiting front for Jim Harbaugh and Co.
Just a few days after landing a commitment from Grand Rapids product Jalen Mayfield, Michigan received a verbal pledge from another four-star OL from in-state.
On Saturday, 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reported that Ryan Hayes committed to the Wolverines:
BREAKING: Traverse City (Mich.) West Top247 OT/TE Ryan Hayes has committed to #Michigan: https://t.co/xIKG1lICon @TremendousUM @isaiahhole
— Steve Wiltfong (@SWiltfong_) May 27, 2017
Hayes is a native of Traverse City and is listed as the No. 3 prospect from Michigan and the 17th-best offensive lineman of the 2018 class. At 6-foot-7, 252 pounds, Hayes is listed as an offensive lineman but could also be a tight end on the Wolverines’ roster in the future.
Michigan was one of four B1G programs to offer Hayes. Michigan State, Minnesota and Northwestern also had interest in the multi-talented athlete.
Following the commitment, Michigan jumped up to No. 7 in national recruiting rankings, per 247Sports. Hayes becomes the seventh four-star pledge and 10th overall commitment for the class.
