Michigan lands commitment from intriguing 4-star ATH out of California

Michigan picked up a commitment from a 4-star athlete Friday afternoon with the addition of a California prospect.
The player is Collins Acheampong, a 6-foot-7 and 254 lb. Athlete out of Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Acheampong held a host of Power 5 offers and committed to the Wolverines over a finalist group that included UCLA, LSU and Miami (FL).

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Acheampong is the No. 17 ATH in the nation and the No. 298 overall prospect regardless of position.
Acheampong is a unique player due to his size and skillset, but his uniqueness as a Division I recruit has another level. Acheampong has not played a football season since 2019 after his high school had the football program eliminated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
