Michigan basketball has just tipped off the 2023-24 campaign, but the Wolverines landed a major piece for the 2024 recruiting class Sunday afternoon.

The commitment comes from Khani Rooths, a 5-star recruit out of IMG Academy. He generated major offers from around the country that included Florida State, Georgia, Georgetown, Indiana and Maryland, among others.

In the end, Rooths went with Juwan Howard’s Michigan program for his commitment:

Rooths is listed at 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Rooths is a 5-star recruit who is rated the No. 25 player in the country and the No. 5 PF in the nation for the 2024 recruiting class.

Rooths joins a 2024 recruiting class for the Wolverines that includes a pair of 3-star guards in Christian Anderson out of Virginia and Durral Brooks out of Michigan. We’ll see how that group shapes up, but Rooths is a major addition for the Wolverines.
