For most of the 2018 season, Michigan has spent time ranked in the top 10. Even after an ugly loss to Ohio State last Saturday, the Wolverines have been placed in the No. 7 spot in the latest College Football Playoff poll.
But after the 23-point loss to the Buckeyes, Michigan was in the top 10 of another poll. A much more unflattering ranking.
ESPN listed Michigan as one of the “Bottom 10” following the final week of the regular season.
The “Bottom 10” is a mix of programs that have been awful all season long, as well as some quality teams who suffer ugly, unexpected losses. Obviously, Michigan fits the latter half of that description.
While it wasn’t too surprising that the Buckeyes defeated Michigan in Columbus, a 62-39 drubbing was certainly unpredictable. The loss also spoiled the Wolverines’ hopes of playing for a B1G title and potentially a national championship.
Jim Harbaugh also dropped to 0-4 against Ohio State.
Here’s a look at the “Bottom 10” teams following the final week of the season:
- UTEP
- Central Michigan
- Rutgers
- UConn
- Michigan
- San Jose State
- Rice
- Louisville
- Georgia State
- North Carolina
