Just two days after Michigan lost 45-51 to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, the Wolverines are losing a freshman linebacker.

On Monday, LB Deuce Spurlock announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. Spurlock posted the announcement on Twitter, thanking the Michigan coaches and staff. The LB stated that it was after long conversations with his parents about his future that he decided to enter the transfer portal.

Spurlock was a highly-touted recruit who committed to Michigan in September of 2021. A native of Alabama, Spurlock was the 92nd-ranked athlete in the nation, and the 38th best player from Alabama when he committed in 2021. He only saw action in two games this season,  recording one solo tackle and two assisted tackles for the Wolverines.

Michigan was Spurlock’s only B1G conference offer, and was the only B1G school the LB visited. Could Spurlock end up at another B1G school, or will he choose one of the other 26 schools that offered him previously? Only time will tell.
