Michigan missing multiple defensive starters for showdown vs. top-ranked Oregon
Michigan has experienced a rough season coming off its 2023 national title, and that includes juggling multiple key injuries throughout the season. Unfortunately, the Wolverines will once again be juggling some major injuries when No. 1 Oregon comes to the Big House.
Ahead of Saturday’s game against the Ducks, Michigan released its pre-game status report, and it was confirmed that a pair of defensive starters in the secondary will miss the game. Star defensive back Will Johnson was ruled out for a second straight game since an injury vs. Illinois, and he will be joined by fellow defensive back Jyaire Hill.
Both players are starters for the Wolverines while Johnson is regarded as one of the top players and NFL prospects in the entire country. Hill has improved as the year goes on, so both absences will be major.
Johnson is the only player for Michigan with multiple interceptions this season, and both of his picks have been returned for a pick-6. He also has 3 pass breakups but traditionally locks down his portion of the field when available.
Meanwhile, Hill is the team leader with 7 pass breakups and also has an interception to his credit this season. He also has 29 tackles and is not afraid of contact, delivering 5.5 TFLs.
