Michigan mocks ESPN business reporter, Northwestern grad Darren Rovell after win
Michigan wasn’t satisfied by just defeating Northwestern on the football field on Saturday. The Wolverines wanted to win the battle of wit, too.
On Saturday, ESPN business reporter Darren Rovell was showing his support for his alma mater, Northwestern, as it took on Michigan in a B1G showdown. Rovell had to be feeling pretty good about his team early, as the Wildcats built a 17-0 lead early.
But in the fourth quarter, Michigan capped a long drive with a game-winning touchdown to post a 20-17 win and improve to 4-1 on the season and remain undefeated in the conference. Northwestern fell to 1-3.
Rovell couldn’t believe it.
Following the loss, Rovell tweeted out “I feel sick.” That’s probably how most Northwestern fans and alumni were feeling. That’s when Michigan replied with a clever response.
“What would it cost your employer in lost productivity if you had to call in sick this week, Darren?” Michigan tweeted.

I feel sick.

Rovell, as you might now, frequently tweets out money, explaining the cost and profits of just about anything related to sports and sponsorship.
So the victory was extra sweet for Michigan on Saturday. It got the win on the field and won the battle of wit against a Northwestern grad.
