Michigan moves into Top 5 of S&P Rankings following Week 6
There are all sorts of rankings out nowadays.
The AP Poll gets the most love early on in the college football season. It’s what we all go by until the College Football Playoff committee reveals its rankings. There’s the Coaches Poll as well, while certain sites have its own version of power rankings determined on a number of factors.
One of the more in-depth ranking systems that has picked up steam in recent years is the S&P Rankings from SB Nation’s Bill Connelly.
An in-depth look into how these rankings work can be found here.
Following Week 6 action, the S&P Rankings were updated. Here’s the Top 5:
- Alabama
- Clemson
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Michigan
Sure, it’s sad to see Michigan behind Ohio State, but no matter where you look right now, the Buckeyes are slotted higher than the Wolverines. To be at No. 5 in these rankings means something.
It could be a look into the future as to what the CFP committee is thinking.
Or, it could be off by quite a bit. We’ll find out on Oct. 30 when the committee releases its first set of rankings this season.
