Michigan OL coach Ed Warinner won't speak on Zach Smith, Ohio State
Michigan offensive line coach Ed Warinner spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Ohio State on Urban Meyer’s staff alongside ex-wide receivers coach Zach Smith. But Warinner has no interest in talking about anything going on in Columbus.
On Wednesday, Warinner met with reporters to talk about Michigan’s upcoming matchup against SMU. But a few questions steered a different direction, asking the offensive line coach to weigh in on the situation involving Smith and Meyer at Ohio State.
“I’m here to talk about the University of Michigan and us getting ready for this game,” Warinner said, according to MLive.com. “I have no comment on that.”
Warinner was on Ohio State’s staff as the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and tight ends coach from 2012 through 2016.
Smith was fired by Ohio State in July after reports of alleged domestic violence arrests surfaced ahead of B1G Media Days. Meyer is serving a three-game suspension for his mishandling of the situation.
Despite the familiarity with the program and the individuals involved, Warinner made it clear that he has no interest in discussing the topic.
