It’s July.

Football truly begins in August. But, it’s always time for recruiting. Recruiting is a legitimate 12-month sport in and of itself.

On Saturday morning, Michigan can consider itself a winner. R.J. Moten, a 4-star safety in the Class of 2020, chose the Wolverines:

Moten is a 6-foot prospect who some believe is a versatile athlete that can play multiple positions at the next level. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Moten is the No. 287 overall player in his class and No. 26 safety.

Moten, from Delran, N.J., had offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, Minnesota, Purdue and others. Prior to Moten committing, Michigan owned the No. 8 class in the country and No. 2 class in the Big Ten for 2020.

The Wolverines’ 2020 class now consists of 23 members — 11 of which are 4-star prospects.
