Michigan players had little trouble voicing their true feelings regarding the antics of their opponent on Saturday afternoon.

Several Wolverines took exception to Indiana’s play in Ann Arbor, saying the Hoosiers were dirty and took cheap shots throughout the game. Following the game, players were given the opportunity to voice their opinion.

Players were particularly upset with a blindside hit that required running back Berkley Edwards to be carted off the field.

“It wasn’t called for,” Karan Higdon told MLive.com following the game. “It’s football, things like that happen, they shouldn’t but they do. We’ve just got to continue playing.”

He also said the hit on his teammates was “definitely” a cheap shot.

Saturday’s game reached a pretty intense level, and even had head coach Jim Harbaugh telling his team to “protect themselves” from some of the cheap shots Indiana was delivering.

“It was BS for them to do that, but he preached for us to protect ourselves, be aware of what they were doing,” Nick Eubanks said.

Also in the game, defensive lineman Chase Winovich was blocked to the ground and was subsequently targeted by an Indiana offensive player. Winovich was forced to leave the game and head directly to the locker room.

Things were certainly chippy in Ann Arbor on Saturday, but the Wolverines survived with a 31-20 win. But it was clear the players weren’t happy with Indiana’s approach.
