No. 6 Michigan has certainly gotten back on track since its Week 1 loss to now No. 4-ranked Notre Dame.
The Wolverines have won 6 straight games and part of the reason is because of QB Shea Patterson. Patterson had plenty of hype surrounding him both coming out of high school as a recruit and when he transferred from Ole Miss, and now, Wolverine fans are seeing the talent.
Wisconsin saw the talent as well, as the Badgers lost Saturday night to Patterson’s Wolverines 38-13. What makes a QB even more dangerous, though?
Getting help. Pass-catchers that can go up and get the ball or break away from defenders with blazing speed is always a luxury to have as a signal caller. Patterson has a number of different weapons, but he hasn’t had WR Tarik Black to this point.
Black, a talented sophomore, fractured his right foot roughly one week prior to the season opener against Notre Dame. He hasn’t played this season.
Getting Black back would be huge, especially ahead of Michigan’s showdown with No. 24 Michigan State on Saturday.
Tuesday after practice, here’s what Patterson had to say about the 6-foot-3 play-maker:
Shea also suggests Tarik could be back this week. Then adds or next game or next game. Wasn’t smiling when he said it.

Patterson truly isn’t sure. And, nobody seems to be. But, progress is being made.
Michigan WR Nico Collins added to what Patterson said about Black:
“I see him every day, every day he’s moving,” Collins said. “Out there running routes. I feel like he’ll be back (at some point). It’s been hurting him to sit, he wants to be back bad. … He’s doing his rehab. He’s on the treadmill. He looks pretty good. Hopefully he can come back soon.
“This week, hopefully. Next (game) even better.”
Michigan-Michigan State is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday at Spartan Stadium. The game will be televised on FOX.
