Michigan football returns on Sept. 4 with a home matchup vs. Western Michigan. The program is looking for a bounce back after last season’s disappointing 2-4 record in the shortened 2020 campaign.

In his appearance on the “In the Trenches” podcast with Jon Jansen, Michigan running back Hassan Haskins believes the team has the right mentality.

“I can see the energy is good around here, and I just see everybody working, everybody coming together,” Haskins said.

Haskins is proud of the fact that the Michigan running backs are taking a hands on approach with each other.

“We just make each other better every day,” Haskins said. “We don’t let off on each other. If we don’t finish down the field, somebody is going to say something.”

Haskins rushed for 375 yards and six touchdowns last season. Haskins is supportive of offensive coordinator Josh Gattis.

“I’m 100 percent comfortable with his play calls,” Haskins said. “I feel like any situation that’s thrown at us, he’s going to have a play for it. I can’t say too much, but he definitely has my confidence.”

Haskins is pumped that fans will finally be back in the Big House and believes it’ll make a major difference for Michigan’s morale.

“I’m fired up. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now. (We) finally get to have fans back, so that’s going to be definitely exciting,” Haskins said. “We gotta come out strong and fast…. We gotta get that done and show everybody that we come to play.”
