Michigan’s running back room is getting even deeper.

According to MLive.com, Christian Turner has decided to return to the team for the 2020 season after initially opting out of playing this year. The back made his initial announcement on Aug. 11, but has since deleted a post on Twitter.

Per MLive.com, a spokesperson confirmed that Turner has rejoined the team and is practicing with the Wolverines.

It’s another talented addition to Michigan’s running back room for the 2020 season. The Wolverines already had a ton of talent with Zach Charbonnet, Hassan Haskins and Chris Evans all occupying the backfield in Ann Arbor. It’s a group that head coach Jim Harbaugh is really excited to see.

“It’s a loaded room,” Harbaugh told Inside Michigan Football with Jon Jansen, per Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News. “A real strength for us.

“Zach Charbonnet [is] really playing well. He is 100 percent. Chris Evans is providing great leadership. Hassan Haskins does so many things well. Blake Corum, just a freshman, he looks extremely good.”

Last season, Turner totaled 44 carries for 171 yards and a touchdown, while also catching four passes for 13 yards. As a freshman in 2018, Turner had 95 yards on 20 carries and had one reception for 16 yards.

Michigan is scheduled to open the season against Minnesota on Oct. 24.
