Tuesday was a great day for Michigan football.

Shea Patterson may have looked good in practice. That’s fine. And Jim Harbaugh may have said something positive about where the program is at. That’s fine too.

But bringing in a 5-star safety recruit for the 2019 class tops any other news for the day.

Daxton Hill, the No. 1 safety in the Class of 2019 according to 247Sports, verbally committed to the Wolverines on Tuesday:

You have to be ecstatic as a Michigan fan. It’s players like these — if Hill pans out of course — that can change games on Saturdays. Guys like Shea Patterson and Jabrill Peppers were 5-star prospects. These athletes have next-level ability.

If Hill hits, Michigan fans will know. Heck, the Big Ten will know.

Hill is from Tulsa, Okla. and is a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back. He is ranked as the No. 12 overall player in the class and had 26 scholarship offers.

Michigan’s 2019 class now ranks No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the Big Ten.
