Michigan has found a new offensive coordinator after parting with Kirk Campbell earlier this month. Chip Lindsey was reported to be the Wolverines’ top target, and the coach will indeed take the role in Ann Arbor.

Lindsey spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons as the OC at North Carolina. The coach’s offense finished No. 7 in total offense in 2023 and finished No. 37 in total offense in 2024.

This is a marked improvement over what the Wolverines had in 2024. The team finished No. 128 in total offense in 2024, ahead of only Northwestern in the Big Ten. Quarterback play was a big problem for the Wolverines with the team utilizing 3 different starting QBs.

After the disappointing campaign, Campbell was let go. Campbell joined Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan staff in 2022 as an offensive analyst and then coached quarterbacks during the team’s run to the National Championship.

Lindsey has head coaching experience, having coached the Troy Trojans from 2019-21. The coach then had a stint at UCF as the OC/QB coach in 2022 before joining Mack Brown’s staff at North Carolina.

The 2025 campaign will be an important season for the Wolverines’ offense. The team is welcoming in the top overall prospect for 2025 in Bryce Underwood. The experienced coach will now get to work with the nation’s top high school passer.
