Florida Gators linebackers coach Christian Robinson may be leaving Gainesville and Dan Mullen’s coaching staff for Ann Arbor and a similar spot with Jim Harbaugh at the University of Michigan, according to sources cited at Football Scoop.

Robinson was hired by Mullen’s three years ago to be an assistant on his first staff at the University of Florida. He currently makes $300,000 annually, an amount Michigan will be on the hook for 25-percent of based on his contract with the Gators, according to Swamp 247, a Florida Gators athletics site.

Robinson played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2012 through 2015 before becoming a graduate assistant with the program in 2015. From there he coached at Ole Miss and Mississippi State before signing on with the Gators.

The Michigan job will be his first outside of the SEC.

Michigan is looking to rejuvenate a defensive presence that was once considered one of the best in the B1G. Last season, the Wolverines struggled significantly in all areas, leading to Don Brown’s eventual termination as defensive coordinator.

Bringing someone aboard the staff with recent playing experience and experience coaching at a high level may prove to be incredibly beneficial for Jim Harbaugh and his team heading into the 2021 season.
