Michigan is set to lose an assistant coach to the NFL ranks, according to a report.

Michigan outside linebackers coach Kevin Wilkins is headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a similar role, per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. As the report notes, Wilkins has previous NFL experience.

Michigan has lost numerous members of its coaching staff to the NFL over the past 2 cycles. Wilkins joins a group that includes Jim Harbaugh, Jay Harbaugh and Jesse Minter.

Wilkins has been a longtime assistant under Michigan defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. He worked under Martindale during previous stops with the Ravens and Giants. His decision to depart for the NFL comes after Martindale reportedly interviewed for the Falcons’ DC job earlier this offseason.

While Michigan struggled as a whole in 2024, its defense performed well for the most part. Wilkins presided over a unit that included Josiah Stewart, who had a breakout campaign with 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.

Wilkins’ departure has not yet been confirmed by Michigan.
