One local sportscaster in Michigan took matters into his own hands late Monday night.

With Jim Harbaugh leading Michigan into Houston and rolling to a CFP National Championship win vs. Washington, many local fans likely tuned into late-night news to see some version of highlights. Unfortunately, Sam Ali — Sports Director at Mid-Michigan Now — was unable to provide video highlights to his viewers.

Ali explained the broadcast restrictions in play prohibited his team from airing video highlights of the game while the broadcast was still in progress despite the fact that the game had wrapped up. However, he did not leave his viewers empty-handed.

“Now, due to certain broadcast restrictions, we are not allowed to show any highlights from the game because the broadcast is still going on right now,” Ali announced. “However, please enjoy my version of the highlights from the action tonight.”

Ali’s highlights included a hand-drawn version of the NRG Stadium field with the broadcaster joking that the grounds crew did great work on the field. The rest of the highlights included hand-drawn depictions of Donovan Edwards’ first-half touchdowns, Will Johnson’s second-half interception and an attempt to draw head coach Jim Harbaugh hoisting the CFP Trophy.

Here are those highlights in all their glory:

It just goes to show that when life hands you lemons, you can still make lemonade!
