Michigan Stadium is venturing into the world of concert hosting, and the iconic home of the Wolverines will host its first-ever show this fall.

On Wednesday, Michigan confirmed that Michigan Stadium will host a show on Saturday, Sept. 27. Zach Bryan will headline the historic concert with a special guest appearance from John Mayer. Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen along with Joshua Slone will also take part in the event.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, Feb. 14 at 10 am ET through AXS.

The Big House is the largest football stadium in the country and has hosted other big-time events throughout its history. However, this will be the first time that an artist will headline a concert inside Michigan Stadium.

“We are excited to have award-winning artist Zach Bryan perform the very first concert at Michigan Stadium,” said Warde Manuel, U-M’s Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics, via a statement. “I would like to thank the Board of Regents, President Ono, the Executive Officers of the University and many of our athletic department staff as well as AEG Presents, for all the work that has brought us to this point in the process. We have been studying and evaluating what it takes to host a concert at Michigan Stadium for a couple of years and today marks that next step in the venture with great partners.”

Manuel has been outspoken about trying to find ways to maximize the potential of Michigan Stadium in this new era of college athletics, and hosting a big-time concert should be a great way to showcase what the Big House can do.

As for the football team, the Wolverines will open the season on Saturday, Aug. 30 with games against New Mexico, at Oklahoma, vs. Central Michigan and at Nebraska before a bye week and the concert on Sept. 27. Michigan comes off the bye week with an Oct. 4 home game vs. Wisconsin, so we’ll see if there are any lingering effects from the concert when football season resumes.
