The number of tight ends at Michigan is shrinking.

Monday afternoon, Michigan tight end Mustapha Muhammad announced via Twitter that he will be entering the transfer portal and seeking opportunities to continue his college career elsewhere. The decision comes following Michigan’s sixth game of the season.

The Wolverines are 5-1. Below is Muhammad’s announcement from Twitter.

Entering the transfer portal doesn’t necessarily mean that Muhammad will be transferring out. Should Michigan be his best option, he can still return to Ann Arbor, though those scenarios have been rare.

Muhammad received 33 offers as a recruit and was a member of Michigan’s 2018 recruiting class. He was a four-star tight end and was ranked as the No. 168 player overall, according to 247Sports.

This season, Muhammad has appeared in two games.

Muhammad’s reasoning for entering the transfer portal is unknown.
