Michigan is looking to reload for another run in 2022, and the offense received a boost with one Monday announcement.
Senior tight end Luke Schoonmaker revealed on his Instagram page that he will return for one more season with the Wolverines. Schoonmaker was a 3-star member of Michigan’s 2018 recruiting class.
“Backstreet’s back ALRIGHT! Let’s run it back boys,” wrote Schoonmaker in his post.

During the 2021 season, Schoonmaker finished with 165 yards receiving and tied for the team lead with 3 receiving touchdowns. His return, along with the return of fellow TE Erick All, gives Michigan a solid TE duo for 2022. All had 38 catches for 437 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns during the year.
While Michigan will have some key pieces to replace for 2022, a number of returns on offense should give the unit a leg up in preparation for next season. Whether or not Jim Harbaugh remains or is lured away to the NF remains to be seen.
