Michigan's Chase Winovich: 'I hope they run to my side every single time'
Sure, No. 2 Georgia plays No. 13 LSU.
That will be a great game. But, LSU just lost to No. 14 Florida. That was a bit of a surprise.
Since No. 12 Michigan and No. 15 Wisconsin have lost, however, both schools have looked pretty good. Wisconsin seems to be improving with its passing offense as time goes on and the rushing attack led by RB Jonathan Taylor is as strong as ever.
Michigan of course knows this — as does star DL Chase Winovich. Ahead of the Saturday night clash in Ann Arbor between the two teams, Winovich wants to be tested and see just how good Wisconsin is:
“It definitely does motivate me,” Winovich said this week on the “Jamie and Stoney” show (WXYT-FM 97.1), when asked about Wisconsin’s always tough and rugged offensive line. “I heard the same thing about Ohio State. I hope they run to my side every single time.
“That was the first thing I said to coach (Matt) Canada of Maryland, I said: ‘I wish you would have ran to my side more.’ I embrace that. For me, I’ve always been that chip-on-the-shoulder guy.”
Winovich apparently really wants to see some action. He didn’t a week ago while his dominating DL teammate Rashan Gary was out with an injury. Winovich recorded just 3 tackles and zero tackles for loss — a season low.
Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst of course said all the right things about Michigan’s stud senior, calling him “a heck of a player.” Winovich wants to put his skills to the test.
“I hope they see some kinks in my game and bring it all to my side, so we can test how great they are,” Winovich said. “Because I see it on film. They are. They’ve been a dominant force in Big Ten football, so we’re looking forward to putting that to the test.”
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with the game being televised on ABC. ESPN’s College Gameday will also be in Ann Arbor.
