Michigan is poised to have a exciting 2019 season.

Many have called the Wolverines the favorite in the Big Ten, despite having lost some of their most important games over the last few years. Harbaugh has been ridiculed for this in the past, but in just a few weeks, a new season will be upon us.

Don Brown, the team’s defensive coordinator, has only been at Michigan since 2016. However, he has been in the coaching business since 1977. He’s seen plenty of football over the years.

With that, he’s seen plenty of defenses and linebackers. At Michigan, the Wolverines only recruit the best of the best. On Wednesday, Brown talked about five players in particular at LB and how deep they are:

“I’m going to say this, (Josh) Ross, Cam McGrone, those two guys, (Jordan) Glasgow, Devin Gil and Jordan Anthony—those five guys—can play at a lot of places in this country,” he said. “They’re very good football players. I feel like we’ve got five guys (that can play at linebacker). This is probably the most depth I’ve had,”

Brown then talked about the competition that leads to:

“We’re five practices in, everybody is on their feet practicing. When you think about that, let the competition just go. Isn’t it a beautiful thing when five guys can play two positions? You’re not playing at your best? Sorry, we’ve gotta roll here. It’s a good competition and really, probably one of the greatest linebacker rooms (we’ve had).

To say that this is one of the greatest linebacker rooms Michigan has had is a pretty impressive statement. Again, Brown hasn’t been there long, but he has seen a lot of talented guys during his tenure.

If Michigan’s offense with returning QB Shea Patterson can put up points, the defense should be able to hold up its end of the deal as well.

In short, Michigan should be more than just a good football team this fall.
