Michigan is one of the most tradition-rich programs in the nation and now they’ve added another awesome detail to honor their players.

Michigan’s helmets already featured stickers but now there’s going to be a unique twist to add an even more meaningful dimension.

The new stickers will now encapsulate a player’s entire career, highlighting achievements such as rivalry game victories, individual accomplishments, and academic honors, according to the Detroit News.

To Michigan, this was a no-brainer way to generate even more pride for the players. The first sticker each player received had the area code of their hometown.

“It’s a great way to reward the guys,” Michigan associate athletic director for football Dave Ablauf said. “We’ve always given ours players their helmet at the end of the their career, and this provides them with a keepsake that tells the complete story of their career rather than just that final season.”

Michigan kicks off the season with those new helmet enhancements on Sept. 4 vs. visiting Western Michigan.
