Michigan forward Ignas Brazdeikis has decided to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA following a phenomenal freshman season in Ann Arbor. Two other Wolverines plan to follow.

Tuesday, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported that Brazdeikis will declare for the NBA Draft and will retain an agent, with no plans to return to Michigan. He just completed his first season with the Wolverines and earned B1G Freshman of the Year honors.

“My intent is to be drafted this year as high as I can be and start my journey,” Brazdeikis told ESPN.

In his only season in Ann Arbor, Brazdeikis averaged 14.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting over 46 percent from the floor. He first gained attention in Michigan’s 84-67 victory over North Carolina, scoring a season-high 24 points against the Tar Heels.

Brazdeikis also registered three double-doubles on the year, including Michigan’s season finale against Texas Tech in the NCAA Tournament. The freshman totaled 17 points and 13 rebounds in the Sweet Sixteen matchup, but it wasn’t enough as the Wolverines fell 63-44 to the Red Raiders.

Two other Wolverines will enter their names in the NBA Draft, Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole. Both players will also sign with agents but it sounds more likely that they will keep their options open for a return to Ann Arbor next season.

Matthews averaged 12.2 points and five rebounds for the year while Poole averaged 12.8 points, three rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Michigan finished the season with a 30-7 record and spent most of the season ranked in the top 10 nationally.
