Michigan running back Karan Higdon didn’t mince any words when he was asked about the season opener against Notre Dame at B1G Media Days on Monday.

The Wolverines and Fighting Irish will square off for the first time since 2014 this year, restoring one of college football’s top non-conference rivalry games. And while fans are happy to see that game back on the docket, Higdon isn’t interested in much else than coming away with a win.

“I’m looking forward to the victory,” Higdon said, according to Sporting News reporter Bill Bender. Higdon went on to say that the game will be a platform for the team.

The last time Michigan and Notre Dame met on the field, the Irish pitched a 31-0 shutout, ending a 365-game streak without being shutout for the Wolverines. Michigan does lead the all-time head-to-head series, owning a 24-17-1 record in 42 meetings.

Despite the three-year hold, it doesn’t seems like the heat of the rivalry is still intact.

Michigan and Notre Dame will play on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
