On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, sports teams across the country honored those who lost their lives that tragic day.

Michigan had a special tribute of its own, featuring a 100-yard American flag and a moving rendition of “God Bless America” before the Wolverines’ matchup with Washington.

More than 110,000 fans are in attendance at The Big House for Saturday’s game and when “God Bless America” ended, they all cheered and waved their maize pom-poms. It’s one of the many ways the sports world is remembering that Tuesday 20 years ago when the attacks killed more than 2,600 people.

Well done, Michigan.
