This has been one of the wilder offseasons in Ann Arbor since Jim Harbaugh took over. After Michigan inked the head coach to a four-year contract extension, Harbaugh made some serious staff adjustments, but has also seen multiple players enter the NCAA transfer portal.

In this era of college football, it’s not uncommon for a few teams to experience a number of players depart the program and look for greener pastures. But the number of players in the transfer portal following a 2-4 year record at Michigan seems high.

Based on an update provided by Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News, there are 17 Michigan football players who are currently in the NCAA transfer portal. Most recently, former starting quarterback Joe Milton announced his departure from the program.

Here’s a list of the 17 Michigan players who have entered the NCAA transfer portal this offseason:

  • Joe Milton, QB
  • Dylan McCaffrey, QB
  • Zach Charbonnet, RB
  • Christian Turner, RB
  • Kyle McNamara, WR
  • Ramsey Baty, WR
  • Ethan Deland, WR
  • Zach Carpenter, OL
  • Willie Allen, OL
  • Luiji Vilain, DL
  • Jordan Anthony, LB
  • Ryan Nelson, LB
  • Osman Savage, LB
  • Charles Thomas, LB
  • Ben VanSumeren, LB
  • Adam Shibley, LB
  • Adam Fakih, LB
  • Will Hart, P

Some teams have experience high numbers departing the program before, but there are a handful of major contributors on this list. It should be interesting to see how the Wolverines handle all the losses for the remainder of the fofseason.
