Lane Kiffin has plucked Jim Harbaugh’s staff to find the next defensive coordinator at Ole Miss.

Thursday morning, Ole Miss announced that it has hired Michigan special teams and safeties coach Chris Partridge to become the new defensive coordinator for the Rebels. Partridge makes the move after spending the last five seasons on Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan.

In 2015, Harbaugh’s first season in Ann Arbor, Partridge was hired as the Director of Player Personnel for the Wolverines. The following season, he was promoted to coach special teams and the linebackers, a title he held through the 2017 season. The last two years, he has been the special teams coordinator and safeties coach at Michigan.

Partridge is known for his prowess on the recruiting trail, being named the National Recruiter of the Year in 2016 by Scout and by 247Sports in 2017. This year, 247Sports ranked Partridge as one of the five best recruiters in college football.

In addition to Partridge, Kiffin also hired former Maryland head coach and Michigan defensive coordinator DJ Durkin to be an assistant coach. His role is not yet known at Ole Miss.
