Papa Kante — a 4-star big man out of Connecticut for the class of 2023 — is joining Michigan. Kante revealed his commitment Thursday.

Kante took an official visit to Maryland in September and was considering the Terrapins alongside Michigan, Memphis, Rutgers and Pittsburgh. In the end, it is the Wolverines that come out on top for Kante’s commitment.

Kante is a 4-star prospect and checks in as the No. 91 player in the country for the class of 2023, per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Listed at 6-foot-10 and 215 lbs., Kante is also the No. 12 center in the country and 3rd overall prospect out of Connecticut for the cycle.

He becomes the first play committed to Juwan Howard’s 2023 class, so it will be interesting to see how the Wolverines round out the cycle around Kante.
