It’s just one loss, but the rumors are already starting to fly.

After Michigan dropped its first game of the season to Michigan State on Saturday, SEC radio personality Paul Finebaum was quick to pull the trigger on Jim Harbaugh’s future in Ann Arbor. To put it simply, Finebaum doesn’t think Harbaugh will be with the maize and blue much longer.

Finebaum doesn’t believe Harbaugh will be run out of town or terminated — after all he has posted back-to-back 10-win seasons — but does think the NFL offers could get a little more intriguing for the Michigan man.

“First of all, he has to develop an offensive philosophy that’s going to work in this league,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter. “But what happens now? Where does Jim Harbaugh go for these big wins? Next year, he’s down to his fourth year.

“No one’s running Harbaugh off since he’s one of the three or four best coaches in the country, but I think he will implode at the frustration of not winning these game and start listening to NFL offers.”

Finebaum has been a basher of Harbaugh since he took over at Michigan. And while he isn’t necessarily trashing the head coach for poor performance, he does believe that Harbaugh will be fed up with losing to the likes of Michigan State and Ohio State and bolt for a different environment.

Last year, Harbaugh was considered one of the top candidates for a few jobs at the professional level but he dismissed any of those rumors.

If losses continue to pile up, it’ll be interesting to see if he does start looking at a return to the NFL.
