Paul Finebaum: 'Michigan is the best team in the B1G'
Paul Finebaum has finally come around.
The SEC Network host and college football expert has long been one of the biggest critics of Michigan and Jim Harbaugh. He takes nearly every opportunity he gets to blast the program and fans.
Finebaum couldn’t do it this week. Not after Michigan’s 21-7 win over Michigan State to improve to 7-1 on the season and remain unbeaten in B1G play (5-0). Now, the radio host is starting to come around on the Wolverines.
“Right now, Michigan is the best team (in the B1G),” Finebaum said while appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter Monday. “But you have to wait it out. Ohio State, under Urban Meyer, continually lays those eggs. It’s an annual right of fall. One thing that we see differently this year is that Michigan is a solid, complete football team. We’ve always known about the defense, but with Shea Patterson this year, they are really stepping up the game. Remember Shea Patterson came over from Ole Miss, and I think Jim Harbaugh has done on of the best coaching jobs. He seems in control. Yeah, he’s kind of out there in outer space, but he’s coaching well.”
Following the win over Michigan State, and Ohio State’s loss to Purdue, Michigan now leads the B1G East and controls its own destiny. It’s making that season-ending matchup against the Buckeyes even more highly anticipated.
Since the loss to Notre Dame, Michigan has looked like an entirely different team. And if Finebaum admits it, it must be true.
