Here we go again.

The Michigan Wolverines are entering another expectation filled season under Jim Harbaugh, but not everyone is buying the hype. It is true Harbaugh and company have yet to break through and win a B1G Championship. However, the team has three 10-win seasons since he took over.

Michigan has looked poised to breakthrough in the past, and 2019 is the latest example. But it doesn’t sound like people around the country have too much respect for the program at this juncture.

When discussing Michigan with Bill Bender of the Sporting News, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum said the Wolverines are like a guy at the bar that just loves to run his mouth. He also said most people in the south really don’t believe the Wolverines are worthy of the chatter they receive:

“I think part of it comes from people in the South not really believing Michigan is worthy of all the conversation that they get,” Finebaum told SN…

“To me, Michigan always seems like that guy at the end of the bar that is just running his mouth, and then he sneaks out because he knows he’s about to get clocked,” he said. “I just don’t think there is a high level of respect for Michigan.”

Harbaugh’s bowl record and record against Michigan’s rivals is certainly something that needs to improve. A strong finish to 2019, including his first win over Ohio State, would be a great place to start.

Still, you could do a lot worse than a team that has posted 38 wins and three AP top-15 finishes in four seasons. Hopefully, Harbaugh and company silence the haters this season.
