Through eight weeks of NFL action, Pro Football Focus has named former Michigan offensive lineman Michael Onwenu as the highest-graded rookie in the NFL. He has a 91.0 grade with Justin Jefferson and Antonio Gibson right behind him.

Also today, PFF lauded him as the sixth highest-graded player of 2020:

Onwenu was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft by the New England Patriots at 182nd overall. He’s started in all seven games for New England this season and has been one of their biggest bright spots. It’s likely at this point that he will continue to get high praise from PFF throughout the season.

Onwenu was a solid collegiate player, but his grades to start the NFL season have been impressive. Grading out as a top-1o player in the league is no easy feat, especially for a rookie offensive lineman.

The Patriots’ next game comes against the winless New York Jets next Monday night. The game will be at 8:15 p.m. ET and will be shown on ESPN.
