Jim Harbaugh has ruffled some feathers with his recruiting dominance across the country.

His New Jersey pipeline stole recruits away from other B1G East squads. His satellite camp tour helped him land some of the top talent from SEC country.

But Harbaugh knows how to take care of business in his own backyard, too.

On Tuesday morning, Michigan got a commitment from four-star 2017 defensive back Jaylen Kelly-Powell. The Cass Tech (MI) safety made it official with this announcement:

Kelly-Powell is the No. 4 player in the state of Michigan and the No. 21 safety in the 2017 class. He’s the fifth-highest rated recruit with a 2017 Michigan pledge.

The Wolverines now have commitments from three of the top five recruits in Michigan.

The Under Armour All-American is also connected to two of the top in-state targets for Michigan. His teammate is No. 1 2017 receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones and his cousin is four-star corner Ambry Thomas, who is the No. 2 prospect in the state.

Michigan’s 2017 class is now ranked No. 9 nationally and No. 2 in the B1G, according to the 247sports composite.
