Final Score: Indiana 7, No. 7 Michigan 29

Brief Recap: In Week 10, both the Hoosiers and Wolverines came out of the gate a bit sluggish. It was far from an impressive outing early with Michigan carrying a 3-0 lead into the second quarter. Both offenses came alive a little bit after that with the Wolverines carrying a 17-7 lead into halftime, and they would gain even more control from there.

Michigan tacked on a pair of field goals in the third quarter, but the bigger story than the offense was the strong play of the defense. Indiana struggled throughout the evening as Michigan kept things bottled up. In the end, the Wolverines cruised to the finish line with the 29-7 victory to bounce back from the loss to Michigan State.

Key Player: Hassan Haskins was the offensive star for the Wolverines in this one, and his strong showing was made even more necessary by an early injury to Blake Corum. Corum had just one carry and was seen in street clothes and a boot on his leg/ankle in the second half. Fortunately, Haskins was brilliant as the feature back, gaining 168 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. He even added a catch for 20 yards and was able to move the ball consistently against the Hoosiers.

Key Moment: After kicking a field goal early in the second quarter, Michigan sent the ball back to Indiana with the Hoosiers looking to pick up some momentum. Unfortunately, that drive last 3 plays with David Ojabo coming off the edge for a strip-sack of Donaven McCulley. That gave the ball back to the Wolverines deep in IU territory. The Hoosiers were unable to stand tall with Michigan scoring 4 plays later. That gave Michigan a 10-0 and the momentum needed to keep rolling.

Key Stat: 195, total yards of offense for Indiana. Michigan’s offense was far from efficient on the evening, finishing 3-for-12 on 3rd-down conversions and kicking 3 field goals. But the saving grace was a dominant defensive effort by the Wolverines as the Hoosiers were never able to get rolling.

What it means for Indiana: The losing streak for Tom Allen’s squad has now hit 5 games with the Hoosiers’ hopes for a bowl gone at 2-7. Indiana also has another key injury to worry about as leading rusher Stephen Carr was dinged up Saturday night. Expectations were high for Indiana coming into 2021, but a mix of injuries and a brutal schedule never allowed the Hoosiers to get momentum this season.

What it means for Michigan: Despite the loss to MSU, Michigan still has a chance to do something special this season. Penn State, Maryland, and The Game vs. Ohio State remain with wins needed in each game. But should Jim Harbaugh’s squad win out – and the Buckeyes beat Michigan State – it would produce a B1G East title in Ann Arbor. The focus now turns to Penn State in Week 11, but everything is still in front of this team.
