It’s not shaping up to be a National Signing Day to remember for Jim Harbaugh.

The Wolverines got some unfortunate news on Wednesday morning with the announcement that longtime commit Otis Reese flipped to in-state Georgia.

The 4-star outside linebacker was Michigan’s top-rated recruit in the 2018 class. The No. 5 outside linebacker and No. 87 player overall was considered a coin flip down the stretch after he took several visits to Athens as a Michigan commit.

The Leesburg, Georgia native originally gave his verbal pledge to Michigan back at a recruiting event in June 2016. He and 5-star 2017 Michigan signee Aubrey Solomon came as a packaged deal that day.

It’s a tough blow for Michigan, which is now in jeopardy of missing out on a top-100 recruit for the first time since Brady Hoke’s first season in 2011.

Without Reese, Michigan now has the No. 3 class in the B1G and the No. 19 class overall in the 247sports rankings.
