The Omicron variant of COVID-19 is immensely spreading across the sports landscape and that means the College Football Playoff is making an adjustment.

With the imminent threat ongoing, the CFP semifinalists are now being granted the ability to arrive to their locations 48 hours prior on Dec. 29, rather than Dec. 26, according to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd:

Dodd adds that all media availability will now be virtual.

In other intriguing news, if three CFP teams can’t play due to lack of player availability, the team with the most healthy players will win the national title, according to Yahoo Sports:

B1G champion Michigan is facing off with Georgia in the Orange Bowl for its CFP semifinal. In the other CFP semifinal, SEC champion Alabama will clash with the AAC champion Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl.
