Report: Former Michigan WR paid $5K to father of Brian Bowen
A former Michigan wide receiver made cash payments to the father of former high school basketball star Brian Bowen, according to reports from Yahoo! Sports’ Dan Wetzel.
Brian Bowen Sr. testified during a criminal trial that he received a cash payment in the sum of $5,000 from Tai Streets, who was a member of Michigan’s football team from 1995-1998.
Bowen Jr. played for the AAU basketball team Mean Streets, which was founded by Streets. Bowen Jr. was a member of the squad during the time of the payment.

Because Streets is a former football player at Michigan, he is “a rep of the Wolverines so alleged $5K payment is a problem even if it was to play for his AAU team (and) not attend U of M,” according to Wetzel.
The NCAA defines as booster as anyone who participated in or has been a member of an organization promoting the university’s athletic programs, paid a donation in order to obtain season tickets for any sport at the university, has helped in the recruiting of student-athletes or been involved in promoting athletics.
Bowen Jr. committed to play at Louisville but never saw the court. he was suspended prior to the season when the FBI investigation broke.
Michigan has not commented on the situation.
