Well, this is certainly interesting.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Michigan coach John Beilein has interviewed for the open coaching position with the Detroit Pistons. It is unclear how well the meeting went at this time or if Beilein is still a candidate for the role.

Beilein has been coaching Michigan since the 2007-08 season and has a 248-143 record in Ann Arbor. He’s led the Wolverines to seven NCAA Tournament appearances over the last eight seasons, including two runner-up appearances.

The Pistons fired Stan Van Gundy on May, 7 following a 39-43 regular season.
