Michigan’s baseball team will reportedly lose pitching coach Chris Fetter to an MLB job.

According to Jon Morosi with MLB Network, Fetter is being hired by A.J. Hinch to become the new pitching coach for the Detroit Tigers. Hinch was recently hired by Detroit to take over as manager, and his reported selection of Fetter is drawing high praise from around the industry.

According to the university, Fetter was hired in July of 2017 after serving as the minor league pitching coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his three seasons with the Wolverines, Michigan advanced to the 2019 College World Series Final and saw three pitchers selected within the first three rounds of the MLB Draft.

While losing Fetter would undoubtedly a big blow to Michigan’s coaching staff, it is definitely exciting to see him make the jump to the MLB level.
