There might be a little more substance to the Jim Harbaugh rumors this time around.

Saturday afternoon, Pro Football Talk reported that the Minnesota Vikings are interviewing the Michigan head coach. The franchise is looking for a new leader after parting ways with Mike Zimmer following the 2021 season.

Harbaugh’s name has circulated as a potential candidate for NFL coaching gigs for years. After leading the Wolverines to a win over Ohio State, a B1G title and a College Football Playoff appearance, it seemed unlikely that this would be the time he jumps back into the professional ranks.

Then again, after such a successful year, there might not have been a better time to entertain the opportunity to return to the NFL.

Harbaugh completed his seventh season as the head coach at Michigan. During his time in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines have compiled a 61-24 record with 6 bowl appearances and finishing in the Top 25 Associated Press Poll 5 times.

Harbaugh was last in the NFL from 2011-14 when he was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. He led the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance and two other trips to the NFC Championship Game. His teams never finished worse than .500.
