Report: Tests confirm serious injury for Michigan LB David Ojabo ahead of 2022 NFL Draft
Tests have reportedly confirmed that former Michigan linebacker David Ojabo has torn his Achilles. The injury occurred earlier this week as he was participating in the team’s pro day.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Saturday morning. Doctors are anticipating a full and complete recovery for the linebacker, but it’s still a significant situation with the 2022 NFL Draft just around the corner.
Several NFL Draft experts considered Ojabo to be a first-round lock in this year’s event.
Pictures surfaced on Friday of Ojabo being tended to on the field after suffering the injury during pro day. He had to be assisted off the field but no update was provided until Schefter’s report on Saturady.
Tests confirmed that LB David Ojabo tore his Achilles, per a Michigan source. Doctors expect a full and complete recovery.
Rams’ RB Cam Akers tore his Achilles last summer and was back in about six months, and doctors expect Ojabo to be on the same timeline.

Per Schefter’s report, doctors expect Ojabo should be back to full strength in approximately six months. That’s the positive news for the former Michigan standout.
Ojabo played in all 14 games for the Wolverines during a 12-2 season in 2021, helping lead the team to a win over Ohio State, a B1G title and College Football Playoff berth. He was credited with 11 sacks, 8 quarterback hurries and 5 forced fumbles on the year.
Ojabo totaled 35 tackles, as well.
It’s an unfortunate injury for Ojabo, but the good news is that there’s an expectation he could be ready to play at some point during his rookie season.
