Rich Eisen soaks in Michigan's Rose Bowl win: 'I can't be taken down a single peg'
Rich Eisen is relishing in Michigan’s big win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl.
Eisen talked about the drive where Michigan tied up the game at 20 to force overtime. Jim Harbaugh’s decision to go for it on 4th down was one that Eisen was a big fan of. Eisen liked it because of how Jalen Milroe was playing and didn’t think Michigan would have too many chances left to score.
“Michigan changed the, wait for it, if you will, Tide. In a drive for the ages where Harbaugh went for it on 4th and 2 in his own end with 4 minutes to go,” he said on the latest edition of The Rich Eisen Show. “I loved that decision. I thought to myself, ‘That’s a major problem, normally. But maybe they’ll just come up with a play call and go for it.’ I didn’t want them to punt it back, I didn’t think they would get another possession out of it with the way that Milroe was sometimes running the ball when he actually got a decent snap snapped to him.”
The 2024 Rose Bowl is one that the longtime Michigan fan will remember for a long time. Eisen was in such a good mood on Tuesday that nothing could bring him down.
“I will never forget it, it was one of the greatest days of my entire life and I can’t say it enough. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing in front of me,” said Eisen. “That this team overcame all the mistakes and all the adversity from this year, to get to where they are, it’s the greatest. I can’t be taken down a single peg or a single notch. This is exactly what I thought would never happen certainly a few years ago with the way this program was going. With Jim Harbaugh, Blake Corum, JJ McCarthy, and that defense. My God. Unbelievable.”
